Suspicious Containers

Depots should consider beverage containers as suspicious if they are:

  • Received in large quantities, or
  • Are all very similar containers, or
  • Appear to have never contained a beverage, or
  • Are crushed or compacted in some way and are in large quantities, or
  • Are delivered by a beverage container manufacturer, either full or empty

If depot owners receive suspicious containers, they must have the customer complete a Container Validation Request (CVR) Form and forward it to the BCMB immediately before accepting the containers from the customer. Refunds should not be paid until confirmation has been received from the BCMB that the containers are properly registered in Alberta and a deposit has been collected on the containers.

Report a suspicious container

To report a suspicious container, please complete a container validation request form and submit to the BCMB.
